Catering Training Manager
Salary: £33,393
Employment Type: Full time, 40 hours a week, 5 over 7 contract, predominantly working Monday to Friday.
About the Role:
We are looking to hire an experienced and dedicated Catering Training Manager to join the team at HMP Birmingham, B18 4AS. This is a permanent and full time opportunity reporting into our General Manager on site and you will oversee and manage all food and food safety training within the prison.
The site is a category B men’s prison feeding c1,000 inmates breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Catering Training Manager Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Food Safety training to prisoners working within catering areas
- Deliver allergen training to prisoners working within catering areas and ensure all prisoners working have been inducted into their work area
- Train staff on the induction process
- Keep all induction and the training matrix up to date
- Complete practical demonstrations
- Coach and mentor candidates
- Instruct prisoners in Health and Hygiene
- Train prisoners and staff in the use of all kitchen equipment
- Assist where necessary in food preparation.
- Complete monthly safety checks for all areas
- Identify any further training needs for all staff and action as appropriate.
- Coordinate training and all relevant training administration
- Identify learners for NVQ and enrol
- Complete registration tracker
- Meet monthly KPIs and provide monthly training stats
Catering Training Manager Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong knowledge of food having worked in a kitchen and food safety
- Level 3 food safety qualified
- Experience training and developing individuals
- A strong communicator with patience and resilience
- Deliver Food Safety, Manual Handling and NVQs
- Must have PTTLS & TAQA, experience required
